Herger-Feinstein QLG Pilot Project
Project Status Summary
Impact of Appeals on 2007-2009 Plan of Work

Table 1 lists 9 projects that had appeals and/or law suits filed against them which ties-up 41,800 acres of hazardous fuel reduction and forest restoration treatments.  These projects would have generated 160.5 million board feet of sawlog volume (all under 30 inches in diameter) and 284.7 thousand bone dry tons of biomass volume.  Bold print shows most recent actions.

Table 2 lists 12 other projects that will have appeals filed by the same parties during the 2007and 2008 season to tie-up an additional 56,100 acres of hazardous fuel reduction and forest restoration projects.  These projects would have generated another 156.3 million board. feet of sawlogs (under 30 inches in diameter) and 187.7 thousand bone dry tons of biomass material. The opposition’s strategy of filing frivolous appeals & law suits continue to prevent the implementation of 97,900 acres of hazardous fuel reduction and forest restoration projects in the eight county area of the pilot project and eliminating 316.8 mmbdft of sawlogs and 472.4 mbdtons of biomass from local contractors, sawmills and electrical generating power plants.
