Activity Center (spotted owl activity center)

An area of concentratedc activity of either spotted owls or a territorial single owl. Source: ¹

Allowable Sale Quantity

 

The gross amount of timber volume that may be sold annually from a specified area over a stated period in accordance with National Forest Land and Resource Management Plans. Formerly referred to as "allowable cut". Source: ¹

Cross-sectional area of a tree stem, generally at breast height (4.5 feet above ground level).

Biomass

The total quantity (at any given time) of living organisms of one or more species per unit of space (species biomass), or of all the species in a biotic community (community biomass); also used locally to refer to small-diameter trees that are processed into chips for paper or energy market.
